High-Availability Monitoring with Dual-SIM Failover
Enabled high-availability remote access to the property-monitoring devices, ensuring uninterrupted visibility even during localized cell tower failures.
The Challenge
Weak connectivity made it difficult to access compatible cameras and monitoring devices remotely, leaving the property vulnerable to blind spots during single-carrier network outages.
The Installed Solution
Installed outdoor directional LTE connectivity utilizing a dual-SIM hardware configuration. Configured automated carrier failover switching alongside the local network routing to support secure, persistent remote-access requirements.
The Outcome
Enabled high-availability remote access to the property-monitoring devices, ensuring uninterrupted visibility even during localized cell tower failures.
Equipment Details
Outdoor dual-SIM MikroTik SXT LTE directional unit (SXTR) populated with two active carrier SIM cards, paired with an internal MikroTik distribution router. Low-loss cabling, heavy-duty mounting hardware, and intelligent power equipment deployed per project specifications.
Performance Notes
The system achieved a 99.9% uptime baseline by implementing an automated failover script that switches carriers within 10 seconds of a primary signal drop. Bandwidth metrics stabilized at a symmetrical 55 Mbps download and 22 Mbps upload on the primary carrier, and 42 Mbps download / 15 Mbps upload on the secondary backup link. Network latency was optimized to a consistent 45ms, eliminating the camera buffering and time-out errors previously caused by indoor smartphone hotspots. Continuous multi-channel uploading operates smoothly across both carrier paths.

Customer Feedback
We wanted to check on the property when we were away, but the connection made remote viewing difficult. The new dual-carrier setup gives us peace of mind knowing the security cameras won't go offline.
