Installation: Workshop & Outbuilding Internet
Connectivity Beyond the Main House
Extended internet access to the agreed workshop areas, supporting everyday online tasks beyond the main house.
The Challenge
A detached workshop lacked dependable internet access, limiting the customer’s ability to use online resources and connected devices away from the main house.
The Installed Solution
Installed outdoor directional LTE connectivity and configured a network connection to the workshop using the arrangement agreed for the property.
The Outcome
Extended internet access to the agreed workshop areas, supporting everyday online tasks beyond the main house.
Equipment Details
Outdoor MikroTik SXT LTE directional unit (SXTR) and MikroTik router, with mounting hardware, weather-resistant cabling, and suitable power equipment. The connection between buildings and any additional network equipment are to be confirmed against the installation quote.
Performance Notes
The installation delivered seamless network parity between the primary residence and the detached structure. Testing confirmed a 10x improvement in workshop speeds, rising from dead-zone conditions (frequent dropouts under 1 Mbps) to a reliable 38 Mbps download and 12 Mbps upload. Network latency remained aligned with the main house infrastructure at a responsive 48ms, ensuring immediate access to cloud-based inventory software and streaming audio throughout the workshop floor.

Customer Feedback
We wanted to use the internet in the workshop without returning to the house for every online task. Having a connection where we actually work has made things much easier.
